Priests Christmas Collection
The Christmas Day Collection will be taken up at Masses on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the support of your priest.
The priest’s income comes from the Christmas Day and Easter Sunday Collections, spring and Autumn Stations, offerings for Baptisms, Marriages, Funerals and Mass Offerings.
NB. The priest does not receive his income from the Weekly and Special Collections, the only two exceptions are Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
Envelopes for the Christmas Day Collection are available in both Churches, if you use the Sunday Envelopes, it has a Special Envelope for the Christmas Day Priests Collection.
Charity is no Substitute for Justice withheld (St. Augustine)
Are we carrying the message of justice into our preparation for Christmas? Are we mindful of the impact of our spending? Will our spending create excessive waste to further burden the planet? Are the gifts we give and receive manufactured where employees are treated justly and fairly? Are we spending more than we can afford? “The God We Hardly Knew” by Oscar Romero. No one can celebrate a genuine Christmas without being truly poor. The self-sufficient, the proud, those who, because they have everything, look down on others, those who have no need even of God, for them there will be no Christmas. Only the poor, the hungry, those who need someone to come on their behalf, will have that someone. That someone is God. Emmanuel. God-with- us. Without poverty of spirit there can be no abundance of God. (Innishannon Peace and Justice Group).

Carols by Candlelight Thank You
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everybody who came along on December 1st to support the Carols by Candlelight concert in aid of ARC house. Thanks to your generosity, we raised almost €3,000. I think you will all agree that the array of talent in our parish is remarkable and we would like to recognise all the gifted performers who gave their time to delight and entertain us. A great many people helped out preparing the church with lighting, flowers and candles and for this we are enormously grateful. We hope you enjoyed the concert as much as we did. Ann MacSeoin, Audrey Muldoon & Jackie Murphy.

Innishannon Reaches Out With Love and Concern for Our Cork Homeless
What can you do? Please donate one warm hat, scarf & pair of gloves to keep our homeless warm (new or second-hand). The cold can be extremely difficult for our homeless at this time of year. Everyone’s small act of kindness can make a difference! Collection points at St. Mary’s Innishannon after masses w/e 17th December. All items collected will be distributed personally by Bernard O’Hehir and the volunteers of ‘Reaching Out’. Thank you all sincerely, Lucy Mulvihill on behalf of ‘Reaching Out’.
Innishvilla Soccer Club
The committee wish to thank all those who supported the Bagatelle concert recently. Our junior team has reached the 5th round of the F.A.I Junior cup. Unluckily they have been drawn against Rathmullan Celtic from Donegal and must make the long journey there on Dec 17th. It is 475km from Innishannon to Rathmullan (North Donegal) and it is very likely that this could be the longest distance ever travelled by a football team in this country. The trip will cost €2’500 approx. If anyone would like to make a donation towards the expensive journey it would be greatly appreciated. Team & supporters bus will leave Innishannon at mid-day on Sat with an overnight in Sligo. Call 086-8364099 for details.
