Thank You from the Lehane Family

The Lehane family Knockavilla would like to thank most sincerely all who supported and contributed to their Christmas Lights Display in aid of Marymount Hospice.  €10,686 was donated to Marymount making a total of €64,951 donated to date.

Innishannon/Knockavilla Community Alert – Information Meeting

A public information meeting in conjunction with Innishannon/Knockavilla Community Alert will be held in Innishannon N.S on Monday February 5th at 8pm.  Topic for discussion are: Security of people’s homes and businesses which will be addressed by members of An Garda Siochana.  A guest speaker will give a talk on Data Protection and Cyber Security.  Everybody Welcome (meeting will also incorporate the AGM).

Innishannon/Knockavilla Defibrillator Group News

Please note the following:  1. Our A.G.M will be held on Wednesday, Jan 31st in Upton [room near kitchen] at 8.30pm. We would love to see you there. 2. A “Skills Night” for all in the group will be held on Monday, Feb 12th. 8 – 9pm in Upton. 3. A course for anyone wishing to be trained in C.P.R and using the defibrillator will be held on Monday, March 5th starting at 6.30pm in Upton. River Rhythms Choir

Have you tried Innishannon’s newest choir, River Rhythms? We are a mixed choir singing fun & contemporary songs. Come try out our new melody section for less experienced singers. Tidy Towns Table Quiz

Will be held in Barretts Bar at 8pm on Friday 9th Feb with Quiz master Jim Kilduff.   This is a very enjoyable and sociable night.  It is also our annual fundraiser, so please support our efforts to keep Innishannon looking good. 

Scoil Mhaoilíosa

Congratulations to Miss O’Shea’s 5th & 6th class who won the Design Award for their Engineering Logbook at the VEX Robotics Competition in CIT last Thursday.  We had a fantastic gymnastics display in the school on Tuesday for our parents.  The school are now accepting enrolments for September 2018, (021-4775662).  Our Open Day is Wednesday 21st February 1.40 – 2.40 pm.

Valley Rovers Ladies Football Family Fun Bingo: On Sunday 28th January in Innishannon Parish Hall 3-6pm.  There is a jackpot prize of €100.  These funds are much needed for new training equipment and your support would be greatly appreciated.  Donations of cakes/buns etc for teas at the interval would be appreciated.  These can be dropped to the parish hall on the day from 11-1pm.

S.H.E.P Mindfulness/Meditation with a Creative Component – with Julie Kelleher

As well as being introduced to and practising meditation which is the focus of this eight week course, participants will also be invited to engage with a variety of art materials as a mindfulness exercise.  Wednesdays 7-8.30 p.m.  8 weeks.  Begins Wed 31st January.  SHEP Centre, Ballincollig.  Cost €55.

Concert in St Peter’s Church, Bandon

On Fri Feb 2nd at 8pm. Taking part are Mairéad Casey & Carol Ní Chuimín (trad/harp); Deborah Desmond & Ber Twomey (Sopranos); Students of Cork ETB School of Music and the Glaslinn Choir. All donations go towards the restoration/upkeep of the Allin Institute.

Irish Cancer Society Volunteers

The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Centres (Cork University Hospital and the Bon Secours) are currently looking for volunteers to support patients and their families. Duties to include – welcoming enquirers to the centre by talking, listening and identifying their needs. Training provided.
