Catechism of the Catholic Church Adult Studies Sept-Dec 2018

Cork Scripture Group

Would like to invite anyone who is interested in Scripture to join us for the following course. The Gospel of Luke: Portrait of a God of Compassion.  Facilitators: Rev Geraldine Gracie, Fr Ben Hegarty OP, Marian Mortell and Fr Sylverster O’Flynn OFM Cap.  Mondays 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd October 2018 from 7.30 – 9.30 p.m. in Scala Centre, Blackrock (opposite Blackrock Castle)   Saturday Workshop: The Acts of the Apostles: A Story of Mission and Church for Today facilitated by Fr Luke MacNamara OSB (Glenstal Abbey/Maynooth).  Sat Oct 20th from 10am to 1pm in Sacred Heart Hall, Western Road.  Cost: €50 [for the 4 nights and Saturday workshop].  For those who wish to attend the workshop only, the cost will be €10.  To book a place or find out more please email corkscripturegroup@gmail.com.

Days of Recollection

With the Servant of God, Mother Marie Adele Garnier (1838-1924), Foundress of the Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre, OSB, through her writings.  Saturday 29th September –Spiritual Combat, St. Benedict’s Priory, The Mount, Cobh, Co. Cork.  Begins at 9am with Holy Mass and Adoration.  1st talk at 11.00am. Rosary on the Coast for Life & Faith Ireland

Valley Rovers GAA Lotto

Bridge for Beginners

The club will commence its bridge year on Thursday September 6th in The Munster Arms Hotel with play beginning at 7.45. New members more than welcome.

IBTS (Irish Blood Transfusion Board, Thank You)

On behalf of The Irish Blood Transfusion Service.  Please pass on our thanks to all who contributed to the running of this Clinic.  224 Donors attended our Blood Donor Clinic in Bandon GAA Pavilion.  This generosity and commitment to helping others is very much appreciated.  Donating Blood is a precious gift that brings life and hope to patients, their families and friends.

The Irish Cancer Society Needs Volunteers

The Irish Cancer Society needs an extra 30 drivers for our Volunteer Driver Service in Cork City and Co. Cork to drive cancer patients to and from their chemotherapy appointments. We are looking for drivers with free weekday availability and who have a car available to them. Drivers should be able to commit to driving at least two full (week) days a month. Cork Dementia Workshops Cork

The Ambassador Hotel (September 18th).  The workshop will last about three hours from 10:00 – 13:00 and family carers will also be reimbursed for any travel expenses or care costs, should they attend a workshop. Refreshments will be provided for each person during the meeting and lunch will be served after the workshop.

If you know of any family carers of people with dementia that may wish to take part in the workshop then we would be very grateful if you could pass along this information. There is also information included about other workshops around the country for your attention.
